Owner's Comments
I bought the car in 1989 in
the condition shown. The 389 and slim jim are gone. Going in its
place is a 428 XF code from a 69 Grand Prix with the following mods:
forged pistons, roller rockers, balanced, polished and shotpeened
crank and rods, fully studded, factory long branch 3 in exhaust,
factory cast iron intake that has stainless hi temp paint, stock
750 quadrajet that is correct for the XF. Trans is a turbo 400.
Many thanks to Rick Gonser for his advice in putting this combo
where the 389/slim jim once resided. The front end was completely
rebuilt by me, including bushings, springs, tie rods, ball joints,
etc. I've picked up lots of parts over the years including a set
of poverty caps with clips, fan shroud, tach and vacuum gauge, s-d
hood scoop (2). Also have a dealers manual and an illustrated parts
manual. |
